First Paragraph:
In our column a year ago, Betsy Yanik, Kelly Sturner and I wrote about a variety of opportunities and ideas for getting involved in local outreach programs in mathematics. Math Circles, camps or clubs may have a variety of activities, ranging from working logic puzzles to learning about careers. As a co-organizer for the last 13 years of the Bearden High School Math Club in Knoxville, Tennessee, I have found that some students also enjoy participating in math competitions, especially the team-style ones. Below I discuss a few of our favorite competitions.
